Alex & Amara - With Everything

“I would put it to 350 Fahrenheit,” she said while continuing to measure the dry ingredients. She had to make sure they were mixed in well enough before she introduced the wet ingredients.

“Could you also put the cupcake paper wraps in the muffin sheet, please? I’m going to have to start mixing soon.” Actually, she had to mix the wet ingredients in a separate bowl, then once they were all blended together, she would pour them into the dry bowl and continue from there.

Back in Brazil, she used to bake with her mother all the time. Usually, it was when family would be coming over, but there were some days that she would just wake up and her mother would ask her to help make some sort of sweet food in the kitchen. To her, baking was something that relaxed her and helped her think. When she was feeling upset, Amara would cook or bake. It made others happy. So, in turn, it made her feel better.

Alex turned the oven on and set it to the proper temperature. He double checked the read and walked back to the counter. The blonde then began to place a cupcake cup in each of the slots on the pan. He then set them aside so as not to get in her way.

"You’re really good at this Amara. I would have already made a large mess by now." he watched her work with a small amount of awe. He was definitely sure this was a great way to spend the day.

Alex & Amara - With Everything

She smiled at Alex, replying with her own wish of a happy Valentine’s. “No, I don’t think she’d like that very much,” she laughed, “Actually, I don’t think anyone would.” Placing the eggs on the counter carefully, Amara turned to face the male, shrugging nonchalantly.

“I’ve set out what we’ll need for the first batch. Have you baked before? I mean, I don’t really know if you have and…” she trailed off and diverted her gaze, timidity bubbling up inside of the girl all over again. It was a force of habit for her to just lose all of her confident momentum and stumble into a sort of shy rut. She cleared her throat. “It doesn’t matter. We’ll just play it by ear. Whatever you’d like to help with is good enough for me.”

So with practiced ease (considering she was already used to baking in the mansion’s kitchen, given all the baked goods she’s made for friends and such), Amara began to deposit the measured dry ingredients into a mixing bowl, making sure to let Alex move about and offer whatever help he chose.

Alex noticed her timidity and just continued to be friendly and not too pushy on anything. He wanted to hang out with her today.

He was pleased to be able to help her and did what he could with out making too large of a mess. He was quick to learn everything. He had baked a bit with his mom in Hawaii but she always did most of the stuff. So he took this as a learning experience.

"What do I need to preheat the oven to?" he asked moving to it. He knew that much. heating the oven while mixing meant when they were done mixing the cupcakes could go right in the oven.

Alex & Amara - With Everything

Valentine’s Day. You either loved it or despised it. Amara was caught in between in her outright feelings toward the holiday. On one hand, she was able to bake for everyone (and Alex was going to help her do so). On the other hand, she was probably not going to have a valentine. But that matter didn’t bother her quite as much as she originally thought it would. Making the others happy actually meant a lot more to the teenager than anything else. That thought was keeping the smile on her face as she rummaged about to gather the necessary ingredients to start the red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.

It was a bit of a challenge to balance the flour and baking soda while she was also trying to gather mixing bowls, but the girl managed not to drop any of them (even if she did wobble a couple of times before setting down some things on the kitchen counter). She gathered the cocoa powder, sugar, red food coloring, and set them on the counter before heading to the refrigerator to get the pack of eggs.

Once everything for the cupcake mix was set out, she leaned against the counter, thinking over the other cupcake recipes she had planned to make for the romantic holiday. The raspberry frosting for the chocolate cupcakes was probably going to be a bit of a challenge, but she was excited for it, nonetheless.

Just as she was going to gather the cold ingredients and set them out so they could soften for the cream cheese frosting, Amara heard the door open behind her.

Alex was practically hopping down the stairs on the way to the kitchen. He thought baking was way more fun than anything else he could be doing. He had no one special to spend this day with and he wasn’t surprised. But spending it with friends was good too. He skidded in his socks on the floor as he jumped down the last two steps. With a laugh he went towards the kitchen.

He pushed the door open and smiled “Happy Valentines day Amara!!” he walked in a bounce in his step as he looked at her “are you ready to bake up a storm?” he laughed after a second “Cupcakes… not Storm. I don’t think she’d like us baking her”
